Val Don Doescher, 71, of Wakefield, NE, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Continental Springs Nursing Care in South Sioux City, Nebraska. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield. The memorial service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the Munderloh - Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield. Burial will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh - Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield.
Val was born on October 28, 1954, in Wakefield, Nebraska, to Edward and Bonnell (Hoeman) Doescher. He was a hardworking man who believed deeply in providing for and loving his family. He spent many years working at Great Dane Trailers, where his strong work ethic and reliability were evident to those who worked alongside him. He showed his care through dedication, consistency, and the example he set every day. Outside of work, Val enjoyed the things that brought him comfort and joy. He was a loyal Detroit Lions fan and rarely missed the chance to watch a game. He also loved watching professional wrestling, something that brought him simple enjoyment and many hours of entertainment. He and Pamela were married on July 25, 1976, sharing nearly five decades of life together.
Val was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pamela Kay Doescher, who passed away in December 2024; his parents, Edward and Bonnell Doescher; his sister, Shiela; and his grandchildren, Keegan and Ashlyn Mahler.
Val is survived by his four children: Travis Sathe of Norfolk, NE, Jennifer Mahler and her husband Paul of Ponca, NE, Ronda Murcek of Concord, NE, and Brandi Transue and her husband Bryon of Soldotna, AK; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were his greatest legacy, and his love for them will continue through their lives and memories.
Val will be remembered for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, devotion to family, and the joy he found in the little things he loved. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
