Tommy “Thom” Gale Stansberry, 62, of Omaha, NE, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE. The visitation will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walthill, NE. The funeral will be Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Reverend Brion Tolzman officiating. Lunch will follow in the church basement. Burial will be in Omaha Valley Cemetery in Homer, NE. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE.
Thom was born on March 29, 1963, in Pender, NE to Edward, Sr. and Marjorie (Swanson) Stansberry. He attended and graduated from Walthill Public School in 1981. Thom continued his education by earning a bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.
Thom had a gift for bringing people together. He was the life of every party, he filled rooms with laughter, music and warmth. He loved to travel, especially abroad, embracing new cultures, people and experiences with enthusiasm. He found joy in music and the arts, loved to cook fancy meals that brought everyone to the table, and was an expert gardener, carrying on the passion and talent he learned from his parents. Watching things grow under this care was just one reflection of the love he poured into everything he did.
Thom truly loved his work with Flagship Restaurant Group. He earned his Sommelier Certificate and went on to serve as a Brand Ambassador for the company, a role that suited him perfectly. It allowed him to travel to cities across the country, helping to open new restaurants while doing what he loved most, building meaningful connections, welcoming new friends, and sharing his deep passion for the restaurant industry.
Above all, he loved the Lord. His faith guided his steps and shaped the way he loved others with kindness, grace, and gratitude. He lived life to the fullest, embracing each day as a blessing.
Thom is survived by his parents, Edward, Sr. and Marjorie Stansberry; brother, Eddie (Regina) Stansberry and their children, Tawnya (Aaron) Meyer, Drew (Katie) Stansberry, Brittney Stansberry, Ryan (Kenzie) Stansberry; sister, Dana (Scott) Griffin and their children, Seth (Jessica) Griffin, Lauren (Andrew) Koch, Olivia Griffin, Mitchell Griffin; brother, Rick (Susie) Stansberry and their children, Tyler (Dominic) Stansberry-Jimmerson, Bryn Stansberry, James Grundke, Andrew Grundke; numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Thom is preceded in death by his grandparents.
