Sharon A. (Christiansen) Buchholz, 86, of Pender, NE, died on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Heritage of Emerson in Emerson. The visitation will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Pender. The burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Pender. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender.
Sharon was born on May 19, 1938, in Pender to Harold and Louise (Kai) Christiansen. She attended and graduated from Pender High School in 1956. Sharon married Charles Buchholz, the love of her life, on October 28, 1956, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender. Together, the couple had three boys, Mark, Matt, and Chris.
Sharon started working at a young age, helping her father and his business. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Sharon enjoyed having a cup or two of coffee with her family and friends daily. She was also a wonderful cook and baked goodies all the time. Sharon and Charles built and operated the Charonal Motel in Pender for five years before selling the single franchise. Shortly after the sale of the motel, they bought The Otherside Bar in Pender. Sharon worked and created many friendships at the bar before they sold it in 1984. Sharon enjoyed gambling and playing slot machines, even after moving into the nursing home.
Sharon was on the Pender Centennial Committee, as was the Queen Jubilee of the Pender 75th celebration. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and the ESA in Pender. She was a lifelong member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and served on the Altar Guild and helped clean the church for several years.
Sharon is survived by her sons, Mark (Pam) Buchholz of Omaha, NE; Matt (Shelley) Buchholz of Pender, NE, Chris Buchholz (Lindi Hathaway) of Pender, NE; grandchildren, Nicole (James) Lodu, Jason (Danielle) Buchholz, Michaela (Kyle) Schellpeper, Morgan (Brett) Kroger, Brandy (Dyllon) Frederickson, Kristin Buchholz; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Faye Ross; brothers, Myron “Butch” (Duff) Christiansen, Joel Christiansen, Merlin (Debbie) Christiansen; sisters-in-law, Elaine Christiansen, Margaret “Peggy” Krusemark, and Cynthia Baker.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Buchholz; brothers, Densil Christiansen, Kenneth (Faye) Christiansen, Norman (Jill) Christiansen; brothers-in-law, Roger Ross, Dale Krusemark, and Darrel Baker.
