Rosalyn Mae (Van Klompenburg) Wenstrand, 82, of Omaha, NE passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Astoria Senior Living Center in Omaha, NE. The visitation will be on Monday, October 23, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Wakefield, NE. The funeral service will be on Monday, October 23, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church. Burial will be in the Wakefield City Cemetery in Wakefield, NE. Memorials are suggested to the Evangelical Covenant Church in care of the Covenant Cedars Bible Camp. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield, NE.
Rosalyn was born on March 15, 1941, in Alton, IA to Dick and Roevina (Cleveringa) Van Klompenburg. She grew up on a farm near Alton, IA with her three brothers and two sisters. Rosalyn graduated from Floyd Valley Community High School in 1959. Following high school she attended the Lutheran School of Nursing in Sioux City, IA; she graduated in 1962. Rosalyn worked in Sioux City until she was united in marriage with Ronald Wenstrand on September 6, 1963, in Orange City, IA. They were married for 57 years, 11 months and blessed with four children: Eugene, Renee, Sharon, and Keith.
Together the couple farmed for 22 years. Rosalyn also worked as a nurse and served as the Director of Nursing for Wakefield Healthcare until she retired in 2007. The couple then moved to Omaha to be closer to their children in July 2018. Rosalyn’s faith in God and her relationship with Jesus provided her strength during the trials that life presented her.
Rosalyn was a member of the Home Circle Club in Wakefield. She taught Sunday School at Evangelical Covenant Church and attended many of her grandchildren's events and activities. She enjoyed swimming in the Wayne State College pool with friends, watching Husker volleyball and family gatherings for special events and holidays.
Rosalyn is survived by her daughters, Renee (Paul) Berger of Elkhorn, NE, daughter, Sharon (BJ) Foust of West Des Moines, IA; son, Keith (Cari-Lynn) Wenstrand of Lincoln, NE; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth (Tyler) Koeneke, Yuri Berger, Andrew Berger, Christina Berger, Kyle Foust, Ryan Foust, Eric Foust, Maddyn Wenstrand, Charles Wenstrand; great-grandchildren, Ellorie Koeneke, Quinnlyn Koeneke; brothers, Delmar (Clarine) Van Klompenburg of Maurice, IA, Richard (Rhonda) Van Klompenburg of Hospers, IA; brother-in-law, Dennis Cordle of Iowa City, IA; sisters-in-law, Cheryl Van Klompenburg of Orange City, IA, Paula (Michael) Nanos of Lincoln, NE; brother-in-law, Alan (Nancy) Wenstrand of Sawyer, MI.
