Patricia M. Bessmer

Patricia M. (Moore) Bessmer, 65, of Pender, NE, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, NE. The visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 29, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Pender, with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Pender. The burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Pender. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender.

Patty was born on November 22, 1959, in Yankton, SD to John P. and Gloria (Frank) Moore. She attended and graduated from Pender High School in 1978. Shortly after graduation, Patty married John Bessmer on April 20, 1979, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Pender. To this union the couple had three children, Aaron, John Adam, and Ashley.

Patty enjoyed going to craft fairs and creating new crafty items for her home. She loved being outdoors and being in her garden. She always wanted to have the first ripe tomato every year. Her house was always decorated with seasonal decor and was festive for the holidays. Patty loved spending time with her family and her beloved dogs. John and Patty spent a lot of time together camping in Yankton and enjoying their time together. Patty’s love for kids went beyond her home, she worked as a cook in the Pender School for several years. Patty then went on to work at Thurston County Courthouse and eventually was elected as the County Clerk. She spent most of her career at the courthouse and lightened the mood by playing pranks and joking with her coworkers.

Patty is survived by her husband, John Bessmer of Pender, NE; son, Aaron (Rachel) Bessmer of Ponca, NE; daughter, Ashley Bessmer of Pender, NE; granddaughters, Brooklynn, Addilynn, and Emberlynn Dutcher-Bessmer; sister, Mary (Marvin) Greenfield of Pender, NE; brother, Johnny Moore and special friend Denise Wilson of Niobrara, NE; sisters-in-law, Tammy Moore of Pender, NE and Kathy Moore of Pender, NE, Barb (Jerry) Anderson of Norfolk, NE, Sharon (Larry) Schrage of Norfolk, NE, Pam Glissman of Omaha, NE; Mike (Kelly) Bessmer of Norfolk, NE, Terry (Barb) Bessmer of Norfolk, NE, Chris (Jill) Bessmer of Norfolk, NE, Tim (Kathy) Bessmer of Omaha, NE; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Patty is preceded by her parents; son, John Adam Bessmer; infant brother, Jimmy Moore; and brother, Jerry Moore.
