Nancy Jo (McManigal) Cass, 71, of West Point, NE, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Faith Health in Norfolk, NE. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Pender, NE. The inurnment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Walthill, NE. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender.
Nancy was born on October 3, 1954, to Jerald and Patricia (Green) McManigal in Blair, NE. She attended grade school in Blair for a short time before moving to Emerson, NE, and attending Sacred Heart Catholic School. Her family ended up moving back to Blair, where she graduated from Blair High School. Nancy married Omar Young in 1976 in Elk Point, SD. To this union, the couple had four children: Boulder, Brandon, Shannon, and Brady. They lived in Walthill, NE, until Omar passed away in 1987.
Nancy loved being outdoors. She enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, gardening, and a good barbecue with her family. Nancy was an avid reader until her eyes started to fail. She liked to paint and created several beautiful pictures. Nancy had a green thumb; she had several plants and nourished them into big, luscious plants. Most of all, Nancy loved her family and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren.
Nancy is survived by her children, Boulder Young of Castana, IA, Brandon (Melissa) Young of Blencoe, IA, Shannon Wolken of West Point, NE, Brady Young of West Point, NE; sisters, Jenny McManigal, Kim McManigal; brothers, Tom McManigal, Joe McManigal, Jenty McManigal, Kevin McManigal, Les McManigal, Jerry McManigal; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Omar Young; and brother, Larry McManigal.
