Maryalice May (Tyrrell) VonSeggern, 96, of Pender, NE, died on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at Heritage of Emerson Nursing Home in Emerson, NE. Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church near Pender, NE. The visitation will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh –Smith Funeral Home in Pender. Burial will be in the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender.
Maryalice was born on Jun 22, 1927, in Lincoln, NE, the daughter of Owen and Sara (Graves) Tyrrell. She graduated from Pender High School in 1945. On August 31, 1947, she was united in marriage to Billy Lee VonSeggern. To this union four children were born: Clifford, Clayton, Curtis and Cindy. They farmed southwest of Pender until 1968. In 1967, Maryalice and Billy purchased the Thurston Lockers. Together they owned and operated the Thurston Lockers until their retirement. She enjoyed walking, reading, and loved everything red. Maryalice volunteered for meals on wheels and hospice and was a long-time member of the WELCA at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. She looked forward to their annual fishing trip to Minnesota.
Maryalice is survived by her sons, Clifford (Wilda) VonSeggern of Atlantic Beach, FL, Clayton (Kathy) VonSeggern of Lincoln, NE, Curtis (Cathy) VonSeggern of Pender, NE; daughter, Cindy (Gaylen) Hingst of Emerson, NE; 9 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters-in-law, Jan Tyrrell of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Carolyn VonSeggern of Pender, NE; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy; parents, Owen and Sara Tyrrell; siblings, Margaret Dunn, Betty Jasa, Edward Tyrrell, Leo Tyrrell, Shirley Brunton, Paul Tyrrell; and brother-in-law, Teddy VonSeggern.
