Marjorie A. Vogt, 95, of Bancroft, NE, died on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point, NE. A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft, and will continue at the United Church of Pender on Monday, October 30, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow lunch at the Bancroft Cemetery in Bancroft, NE. Memorials are suggested to the Bancroft – Rosalie Educational Foundation. Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft is in charge of the services.
Marjorie was born on January 12, 1928, in Bancroft, NE, the daughter of Frank and Effie (Carlberg) Wood. Following her graduation from Rosalie High School, she earned her associate degree from Wayne State College and Midland University. She was united in marriage to Myron W. Vogt on July 15, 1948; to this union three children were born, Marlon, Merlyn, and Marla. Marjorie taught school for several years in Manning, IA, and at District 78 in Bancroft. She then worked as a house parent at the Fremont Children’s Home while Myron served in Korea. She worked for twenty-eight years as a local correspondent for the Wisner and West Point Newspapers. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Bancroft American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her sons, Marlon (Norma) Vogt of Marion, IA, and Dr. Merlyn (Bet) Vogt of Lincoln, NE; daughter, Marla Davenport of Wabash, IN; nine grandchildren; and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Myron; one brother and three sisters, and their spouses.
