Marilyn L. (Johnson) Hassler, 96, of Emerson, NE, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Heritage of Emerson in Emerson, NE. The visitation will be on Monday, April 20, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emerson, with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Emerson. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home.

Marilyn was born on August 18, 1929, in Pender, NE, to Henry and Martha (Bloom) Johnson. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school for 8 years. She transferred to Pender High School, where she graduated in 1947. She worked at the local grocery store for a short time after graduation. On May 25, 1954, Marilyn married Raymond Hassler at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emerson. To this union, the couple had 5 children. Together, the couple farmed east of Emerson until Raymond passed away. In 2014, Marilyn moved to Heritage of Emerson, and she truly enjoyed every moment.

Marilyn enjoyed working with children; she was a 4-H leader for over 50 years and a local Boy Scout Leader for several years. She was a member of the Extension Club, Sacred Heart Altar Society, and the Catholic Daughters. Marilyn was one of the founding board members of the Emerson New to You Shop.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Steve (Corliss) Hassler of Emerson, NE, Jane Carlson of Stanton, NE, Dave (Fran) Hassler of Ponca, NE, Dan Hassler of Emerson, NE, Julie (Dave) Stewart of Hubbard, NE; grandchildren, Matt Pfister, Randy Hassler, Brian (Trish) Hassler, Megan (Will) Zoucha, Audrey (John) Dyer, JD (Tasha) Stewart, Cody (Jaden) Carlson, Chelsey Pena; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond; brothers, Kenneth Johnson, Harold Johnson, and an infant brother.
