Lavern was born to Carl and Ida Logeman on May 27, 1939, in Omaha, NE. He attended a country school from kindergarten to 8th grade. He graduated from Bennington High School and attended a business school in Omaha. He then farmed with his Dad near Bennington. He married Patricia Bates on June 5, 1959.
He farmed for 10 years in Douglas County on Rainwood Road. They then moved back to their home place in Bennington. He and Pat had three children: Vicki, Ricky, and Cindy. In 1972, he and Pat purchased a farm by Lyons, NE. He was very proud of the legacy they built together to pass onto their children with the addition of 9 pieces of land purchased over the years. Farming was his livelihood and he enjoyed working the land. He also had a cattle and hog operation. After 55 years of marriage, Patricia passed away in 2014.
Logie married Janet Lutjen on June 10, 2017. He had been friends with Janet and her husband for many years. Though the years they were united were not many, they shared a special bond. As Logie was going blind, Janet was there for him providing much needed support and understanding. Janet was a blessing in his life.
Logie was a member of the Bancroft Rural Fire Department Board for 10 years and was on the Lutheran Church Board.
He enjoyed fishing, bowling, gambling, tractor pulls, and spending time with friends and family.
While we lost our beloved Dad, many have lost a friend and loved one in him. There was so much more to him than just being our Dad, though to us that was his greatest accomplishment.
We find comfort in knowing Dad’s legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us and the memories we will cherish forever.
He is survived by his wife, Janet; daughter, Vicki (Steve) Mayer of Lincoln, NE; son, Rick (Lisa) Logeman of Decatur, NE; daughter, Cindy (Bryce) Broyhill of Pickstown, SD; six grandchildren: Lexi, Makenzie, Kayla, Samantha, Brandon, and Alex; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Ida Logeman, an infant sister and wife Pat Logeman.
