Kari Lynn Prusa, 63, of Pender, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at an Omaha hospital. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender. Burial will be at a later date in the Rosehill Cemetery in Pender. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender.
Kari was born on December 16, 1960, in Pender, NE, the daughter of Stanley and Anyce (Glabius) Schmeckpeper. As the oldest of seven children, mother of three and all the “bonus ones”, grandma to eleven and great-grandma of three, Kari lived a life of chaos at all times. In her down time, she loved to read, put together puzzles, crochet, and watch Christmas movies. Being born in December it gave Kari another reason to love Christmas. She loved the fact that she shared her birthday with her niece Keshia, and sister-in-law, Rosie.
Kari is survived by her husband of 43 years, Lonnie Prusa; daughters, Kylie (Tony) Knutsen, Sarah (Artie) Reed; son, Andrew (Amber) Prusa; grandchildren, Tristan Vick, Moorghan (Jordan) Prusa, Breanna (Ben) Schmeckpeper, Justice (Dalton) Pomerleau-Joslyn, Billie and Jayda Knutsen, Lilleigh and Gracee Brader, Jayden Reed, R.J. and Katy Prusa; great-grandchildren, Jonnathan and Xena Schmeckpeper, Rayden Pomerleau-Joslyn; brothers, Mark, Brian, and David Schmeckpeper; sister, Joni Schmeckpeper; brother-in-law, George Prusa; sister-in-law, Linda Prusa; sister’s of her heart, Maryjo, Robin, Pam, and Dawn; nieces and nepehws, Keshia, Rebecca, Trenton, April, Laura, Bruce, Jerry, Tammy, Shelly; and many other friends and family.
Kari was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Becky and Julie Schmeckpeper; grandson, Joshua Schmeckpeper; son-in-law, Raymond Pomerleau; in-laws, Ed and Red, Jerry and Alvera Prusa, Margaret and Rosie.
