Judy A Chaney

Judy A. Chaney, 74, of Pender, NE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, NE. The visitation will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Pender. The burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Pender. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE.

Judy was born on October 20, 1951, in Pender, NE to Wayne and Shirley (Hulsebusch) Powley. She attended and graduated from Pender High School in 1969. After graduation, she moved to Omaha, where she attended college to learn medical coding. Judy returned to Pender and started her 49-year career at the Pender Community Hospital. On April 14, 1973, Judy married Robert “Lon” Chaney at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender.

Judy and Lon enjoyed fishing and camping. They liked traveling to Minnesota, spending long weekends and fishing together. Judy enjoyed working on crafts with her mother. Together, Judy and Shirley traveled to several craft shows, selling their crafts. In her spare time, Judy loved watching QVC and shopping. She was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan and recorded all their scores. After retiring, Judy volunteered at Thriftique and enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Judy is survived by her brother, Steve (Shelly) Powley of Fremont, NE; nieces and nephews, Danika Powley, Dustin Powley, Dylan (Lindsey) Powley, Heather Campbell, and Britt Campbell; great-nieces and nephews, Bryson, Ryan, Lucy, Mayson, Lilea, and Lyla.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Lon.
