Jerry Wayne Ellis, 80, of Wakefield, NE passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025, at North Suburban Hospital in Colorado. A visitation will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery in Thornton, CO. A funeral will begin at 3:00 p.m. at Olinger Funeral, Cremation & Cemetery.  A local graveside service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Wakefield Cemetery in Wakefield, NE.  Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.  Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home.

Jerry was born on September 7, 1944, in Ponca, Nebraska to Ronald Ellis and Eileen Schlines. He graduated from high school in 1962 in Wakefield, Nebraska and entered the US Army in December 1963. He was trained to repair, calibrate, and service medical equipment that could be found in hospitals, medical centers, and dental centers. During his travels in the U.S. Army he was able to live in three different countries which were France, Germany, and Iran. He retired from the U.S Army in December 1983. In April 1985, he went back to work for the federal government as a training instructor, which he retired from in December 2006.

His hobbies were anything he could do outdoors. Hunting, fishing, and golf were his favorites.

He was married twice. His first wife was Dora Hannewald Ellis from Lampertheim, Germany. They had a daughter, Donna Ellis from Lampertheim, Germany, and the twins Troy and Tracy Ellis from Heidelberg, Germany. Tracy passed away as an infant in Wakefield, Nebraska. His second wife was Virginia Webster, with whom he had a daughter, Michelle Ellis Bushner.

He is survived by his children Donna, Troy, and Michelle; and his grandchildren, Simon, Daron, Marcus, Angelo, and Grace.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ronald Ellis and Eileen Ellis Cisney; his siblings, Chuck, Kenny, and Connie Ellis (McKinney), and his daughter, Tracy Ellis.
