Janet C. Anderson, 90, of Pender, NE, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Heritage of Emerson Nursing Home in Emerson, NE. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft; Pastor Robert Schilling will be officiating. Burial will be in the Bancroft Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft.
Janet was born on April 3, 1935, in West Point, NE, the daughter of Elmer and Evelyn (Brandes) Schilling. She was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in West Point. Janet graduated from Bancroft High School in 1952 and attended Wayne State College for two summers, becoming a rural teacher. She taught country school for three years. On August 19, 1954, Janet was united in marriage to Rex Anderson at Immanuel Lutheran Parsonage in Rosalie, NE. To this union, five children were born: Dotty, Terry, Peggy, Betty, and Robert. After her marriage, Janet worked at Jim’s Market and Meat Processors, Triple C, managed Smiths Café in Rosalie, and worked for ten years at the Bancroft-Rosalie High School. On retiring, Rex and Janet worked for six years at the Tailwaters Campground in Yankton, where they managed the campground. Janet and Rex moved to Pender moved to Pender in 2009. Rex passed away in 2010.
Janet is survived by her children, Dotty Furchert of Scribner, NE, Terry Anderson of Herman, NE, Peggy (Cary) Renz of Bancroft, NE, Betty (Jim) Lynaugh of Kearney, NE, and Robert “Bob” (Angel) Anderson of Bancroft, NE; twelve grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Rex; twin brothers, Clinton and Clifford Schilling; and a son-in-law, Mylon Furchert.
