James Keith Iverson

January 28, 1932 — May 8, 2026

James "Jim" K. Iverson, 94, formerly of Emerson, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A graveside service and Masonic service will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson, NE. Military honors will be conducted by the Emerson American Legion Post #60. Following the graveside service, the family would like to invite everyone to St. Luke Lutheran Church in Emerson for refreshments. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Emerson.

Jim was born on January 28, 1932, in Concord, NE, the son of Erwin and Marie (Bottorff) Iverson. While still an infant, his family moved to Emerson, NE. Jim graduated from Emerson High in 1949 and started working for the NE Nebraska Rural Public Power District. In 1952, Jim entered the United States Army, spending sixteen months in Germany. He was honorably discharged in October of 1954. Following his time in the service, Jim returned to the R.E.A. On November 24, 1954, He was united in marriage to Lois Surber in Emerson. To this union, two children were born: Brian and Jamie. The family moved to Granby, CO, in 1963, and worked for Mountain Parks Electric until Jim retired as the General Manager in 1997. They moved back to Emerson until 2016, when they moved to Lawrence, KS, and later to Pittsburgh, PA, to be closer to their family.

Jim was a member of the American Legion Post #60 and the Magnolia Masonic Lodge 220 in Emerson, and the Consistory Shrine in Sioux City, IA. He was also a member of the Granby Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Lois Iverson of Pittsburgh, PA; son, Brian (Sue) Iverson, and their son, Max (Danielle “Dani”), and their children Sylvie and Millie of Pittsburgh, PA; daughter, Jamie (Bud) Goins of Reno, NV, and their daughter, Randi Goins of Vancouver, British Columbia.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Barry and Richard "Dick" Iverson.
