Harold W. Sands

Harold William Sands, 81, of Thurston, NE passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023, at the Azria Health Central City, in Central City, NE.  A memorial service and luncheon will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 24, 2023, at St. Luke Lutheran Church Social Hall in Emerson, NE.  Burial will be at a later date in Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson, NE.  Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.  Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Emerson.  

Harold was born on August 5, 1941, in Anthon, Iowa to Alber and Frieda (Struckbein) Sands. Harold married Dorothy Berner, to this union the couple had two sons, Henry and Howard.  Dorothy passed away in 1979.  On August 8, 1980, Harold married Sandra (Swanson) in Emerson, NE.  

Harold is survived by his wife, Sandra Sands; son, Howard Sands; stepsons, Craig (Lynne) Swanson, Brian (Brenda) Swanson; sisters, Edna Kapaun (special friend Doug), Arlene (Lyle) Bald; brothers, Richard (Kay) Sands, George Sands; brother-in-law, Donald (Tina) Swanson; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild. 

Harold is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harry Sands; an infant sister; son, Herny "Hank" Sands.
