Gerald D. Meyer

Gerald D. Meyer, 89 of Wayne, NE, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025, at his home in Wayne, NE. The visitation for Gerald will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield. The funeral service will be on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wakefield. Burial with military honors will be in the Wakefield Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield.

Gerald was born on March 21, 1936, in Wakefield, NE, the son of Bilger and Anna (Lubberstedt) Meyer. At the age of 9, his father passed away. He left school soon after to help with his mother and brother. He entered the United States Army. After his service, Gerald returned home and was united in marriage to Lois M. Denker at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wakefield on December 9, 1962. To this union three children were born: Lori, Kenneth, and Merlin. He farmed for many years around Wakefield until his retirement in 1992. He then worked for M.G. Waldbaum’s for many years. Gerald and Lois then moved to Wayne. Lois passed away on December 6, 2017. He continued to live in his house in Wayne. Gerald was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wakefield. He enjoyed the time he spent outside and in his garden.

Gerald is survived by a daughter, Lori Meyer of Wayne, NE, Kenneth Meyer of Pender, NE; grandchildren, Ashley, Kelsie, and Pete; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Anna; wife, Lois; son, Merlin; and a brother, Dennis Meyer.
