G. W. Bill Harrison

G. W. Bill Harrison, 97, of Norfolk, NE, formerly of Wakefield, NE, died on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Faith Regional Medical Center in Norfolk, NE. Memorial services will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Wakefield Cemetery in Wakefield, NE. An ice cream social will be held at Munderloh–Smith Funeral Home (803 Oak St,. Wakefield, NE) following the graveside service. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh–Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield.

Bill was born in Wakefield, NE, on September 24, 1927, the son of W.R. and Mildred (Roberts) Harrison. Following his graduation from high school, Bill entered the United States Navy. After his discharge, he received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1954. On June 20, 1954, he was united in marriage to Gail L. Schmeckpeper in Pender, NE. To this union, three children were born: Daryl, Sheree, and Sheila. For many years, Bill worked for Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company. Following his retirement, the couple returned to Wakefield, where they were members of Salem Lutheran Church. Gail passed away on January 3, 2022. Bill enjoyed working in his yard and gardening.

He is survived by a son, Daryl (Jan) Harrison of Thurston, NE; daughters, Sheree Harrison of Omaha, NE, and Sheila Swanberg of Aurora, CO; three grandchildren, Heath (Connie) Harrison, Brad Swanberg, Nicole (Chip) Pixley; and eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Gail; grandson, Travis Harrison; brother Tom; and sister Katherine.
