Emma P. LaMere, 97, of Winnebago, NE, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at her home in Winnebago, surrounded by her family. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, beginning at 4:00 p.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church School, with a service at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will be in the St. Augustine Catholic Church Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home.
Born August 19, 1928, in Clifton, AZ to Anastacia Perea and Manuel Bailon. She attended K-12 in Clifton, AZ. She worked through High School at: Moores Bakery & J.C. Penny Co. She enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where she worked as a den mother for the Cub Scouts.
After being discharged due to her family's request, she moved to San Francisco, CA, with her uncle and worked as a Secretary for the Founder for J.C. Penney Co., James Cash Penny. She met Jack LaMere near the Golden Gate Bridge, a member of the U.S. Coast Guard and they married in 1955. Blessed with two sons, John and Jerry LaMere. The Coast Guard took them to various places. Last stationed in Honolulu, HI where they settled for 27 years. The family moved to California. A few years later, Jack and Emma moved to Winnebago, NE, Jack's birthplace. This is where they adopted and raised their third son, Gregory Walker. The family had then called Winnebago home.
