Douglas Carlson

Douglas Carlson, 64, of Wakefield, NE, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Faith Health in Norfolk, NE. The memorial visitation will be on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield. The memorial service will follow, starting at 2:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield. The burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery in Wakefield. A light lunch and refreshments will follow in the Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home Community Room. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield.

Doug was born on November 30, 1961, in Wakefield, NE, to Dennis and Ellen (Beckman) Carlson. Doug was baptized and confirmed at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Wakefield.  He attended and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1981. After graduation, he attended tech school in Sidney, NE, studying CDL courses. Doug married Elizabeth Schuttler on June 28, 1986, in Wakefield, NE. To this union, the couple had one son, Logan.

Doug enjoyed watching the Nebraska Cornhuskers sports. He never shied away from helping with fundraisers and benefits. Doug was a guy who would assist anyone who needed help. He loved showing off pictures of his grandchildren and enjoyed camping.

Doug is survived by his mother, Ellen Carlson of Wakefield, NE; son, Logan (Chloe) Carlson of Kearney, NE; grandchildren, Olivia, Cooper, Quinn; brother, Mike (Lisa) Carlson of Ponca, NE; sister, Lori (Don) Peterson of Rockford, MN; and several nephews.

Doug is preceded in death by his father, Dennis Carlson; grandparents, Vern and Millie Carlson, Russell and Helen Beckman.
