Dorothy Hankins

Dorothy R. (Cooper) Hankins, 87, of NE passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2025, at Tiffany Square in Grand Island, NE. Private family graveside services will be held in Evergreen Cemetery in Walthill, NE.  Memorials may be directed to the family for future designatgion.  Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE.  

Dorothy was born on September 5, 1937, in Ely, NV, to LeRoy and Ella Cooper. She married Donald Hankins on January 10, 1966, in Tekamah, NE. The couple had two daughters.

Dorothy loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Dorothy enjoyed selling Avon for many years as well as volunteering her skills of baking for the Walthill Senior Center and helping the senior center's cook and much-loved friend, Mary Marr.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Teresa Brentlinger of Bonner Springs, KS and Viola Burkett of Juniata NE; six grandchildren, Matt Maul (Tanya), Abigail Shaffer, Christopher Brentlinger, Matt (Sarah) Brentlinger, William (Alesha) Hedrick, Heather (Travis) Schafer; 14 great grandchildren; sisters, Violet Schott and Mary Baker; brothers, George, and Norman; and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; and brother, LeRoy.
