Charlotte Anne (Griscom) Cook, 79, of Winnebago, NE, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. Memorial services are currently pending. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE.
Charlotte was born on January 30, 1945, to Charles W. and Margaret (Bagget) Griscom in Walterboro, South Carolina. Charlotte was a hard worker from an early age. She moved into her own apartment at the age of 14 and began working at a local cafe as a waitress. She enjoyed watching people eat a good, warm meal. As time passed, she continued working in the restaurant and catering industry. She spent most of her career working for the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Minnesota. While working at the casino, Charlotte had the opportunity to meet and help accommodate several A-list celebrities. Charlotte liked feeding and serving people, but her willingness to help went beyond work. She donated food and her time to help the homeless and people who needed assistance. Charlotte liked seeing people happy and would do just about anything to make someone smile.
During the 1980s, Charlotte moved to Eagle River, Alaska, and started a drywalling company. When she returned to the lower 48 states, she acquired a taste for good wines and she started collecting bottles of world-renowned wines. In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, camping and going horseback riding.
Charlotte is survived by her son, John "Jay" Bury, Jr. and his wife, Dawnita Blackhawk; and four grandchildren, Dallas, Taylor, Emilio, and Shauna.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marilyn; and brother, Buddy.
