Bernice “Bee” L. Gill, 100, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at Heritage of Emerson Nursing Home in Emerson, NE. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Faith United Center and Chapel (formerly the Walthill Presbyterian Church). A visitation with family present will begin at 10:00 am. On Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at the church. A time of lunch and fellowship will follow at the Walthill Fire Hall. The inurnment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, IA. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender.
Bee was born on August 28, 1924, in Rochester, Massachusetts, the only daughter of ten children to Elmer and Bernice (Gifford) Lawrence. After finishing Nursing School in Worcester, MA, and nursing training in Winnebago, NE, Bee was united in marriage to James J. Gill in Winnebago, NE on November 28, 1946. To this union five children were born: Daniel, Jacquelyn, Kathleen, Lawrence, and Cynthia. Bee worked as a nurse in Grand Island, NE, at the Veterans Hospital and in Winnebago with Indian Health Services for 25 years. She loved family, friends, dancing, cards, crocheting, crosswords, scrabble, traveling, and playing the organ at the Presbyterian Church in Walthill.
Bee is survived by her children, Lawrence A. (Stephanie) Gill of Howell, MI, Jacquelyn Gee of Mapleton, IA, Kathleen (Roger) Mast of Winnebago, NE, and Cynthia (Gordon, Jr.) Korinke of Sioux City, IA. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, numerous great, and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; son, Daniel Gill; nine brothers, David, Gifford, Maxwell, Russell, George, Otis, Nathan, Stephen, and Elmer, Jr.
